Kathy McCarty, RN MSN has been serving at Chidamoyo Christian Hospital in the bush of Zimbabwe for over 25 years. Kathy grew up in our church, and we are honored to be able to fully support her. Kathy is the nurse in charge who oversees the hospital. Patients receive not only quality health care but the good news about Jesus as well. She is a pioneer in the treatment and education of AIDS patients. People walk for miles just to seek care at this hospital. This is the only available hospital for over 70,000 people in her region. She was a recipient of the 2008 Nurseweek's humanitarian of the year award - previous winners were Paul Newman and Rosalind Carter. Many people from our church go to Zimbabwe to assist Kathy with her work.
April faithfully plays the piano for our church services and is a special blessing to the choir, where she not only plays piano, but sings as well. April teaches piano, volunteers at her daughters' school, and directs the children's choir. She and her husband Tom live in Sebastopol with their two daughters, Kelly and Julia.
